Julia Bidermann
Originally from Paris, Julia Bidermann moves to New York in 1996, where she graduates from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film and Television Production.
She subsequently begins her career in New York’s independent cinema scene as an artistic consultant. During her New York years, Bidermann also works as a photographer and writer for French newspapers and magazines such as Le Figaro, L'Officiel, Jalouse, or Colette Magazine, for whom she takes portraits of NY artists and fashion designers around the city.
Several summer internships in Paris as an assistant curator for contemporary art exhibitions at Passage de Retz ignite a newfound passion for art and objects, and prove to be formative experiences. She moves back to Paris in 2004, where she continues to work for film and television (fiction and documentary) as a writer, director and producer.
In 2017 Bidermann decides to pursue her passion for art and undertakes a master’s in marketing and distribution of works of art, with a concentration in contemporary art at IESA. As part of her studies, she completes a stint in the contemporary and modern art department of the Pierre Bergé Auction House in 2018. There, as part of her rotation, she discovers the Design department where she assists with numerous sales.
Bidermann continues her experience in the art world curating sales with auction houses such as Mirabaud Mercier or Art Centers. These experiences confirm her passion for design and objects.
In 2023 she decides to set up Pick-Up Art, an itinerant art gallery project that has been close to her heart for several years.
